Brian Ryherd accepted the Call to become the Principal of Abiding Savior Lutheran School in south St. Louis County.
As an LCMS Commissioned Minister of Religion, Ryherd will begin his new role in July, 2018. His most recent experience includes ten years as the Lutheran High School South Principal in St. Louis.
“I am ecstatic to be serving alongside Brian. I have known him for 10 years as he served as Principal and have interacted with him as a colleague and as a parent of a child at South. He is a man of great integrity who always puts the children's best interest at heart. He also ensures the child and parents spiritual growth are a priority,” said Pastor David McBurney. “Brian will clearly be a blessing both to our school and to our congregation.”
The Call committee made the recommendation of Ryherd to the congregation. The committee included Les Nappier, Church Council President, Aimee Kieffer, Business Manager at ASL, Laurie Beining, PreK Teacher, Brenda Doering, 4th grade Teacher, Jennie Buss, parent and District Manager of Aldi Stores, Kyle Lang, parent and owner of Kyle’s Landscape Service, Sue Robertson, alumni parent and current School Secretary, Gary Odom, ASL Elder, and Pastor Mattson, retired Pastor and member of ASL.
Ryherd’s ministry and teaching experience includes 34 years total including 10 years as LHSS Principal, 5 years as Lutheran School Association Superintendent (K-12, Decatur, IL), 7 years as Our Savior Lutheran Principal (EC-8, Springfield, IL), 3 years as St. Paul Lutheran Principal (PS3 - 8, Oak Lawn, IL), and 9 years as Lutheran High School North Teacher in Houston, Texas.
Current principal, Zachary Klug, accepted a Call to become the Principal of Trinity Lutheran in Springfield, IL. Klug attended elementary school at Trinity.
